The Jennie Wade Media Center
The rivers of America were the highways that led the early founders to establish new settlements.  First by canoe, raft or flat boat  and later by paddleboat, the early settlers of the Ohio valley journeyed the rivers. The river was the doorstep to each new settlement.

It is fitting that the Jennie Wade Media Center  bring the people back to the source of these settlements, the river. Here, at the river's edge, the people can view the stories of this region. People are drawn to the river, it welcomes them to its shores. Th
e Jennie Wade will welcome the people at the river's edge. Through the center, we portal people back to these communities to rediscover all that is there.

The
Jennie Wade is a restored replica of an 1800's paddle wheel boat. It was originally  built as an amusement park ride in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania's Timelss Townes of the Americas, ferrying people back to other times. Now, here in the Ohio River valley she continues her journey with the people.
Jennie's New Home
Some facts about the Jennie Wade
The main deck design of the Jennie Wade media room accomodates an audience of @ 45 people.  The top deck is designed as a staging area for a variety of uses such as theatrical and musical performances. Other activities suggested include open-air storytelling sessions, birding and nature classes and art and musical programs.

Over 5000 visitors toured the facility in the last two seasons. We anticipate more than 10,000 in the seasons to come. The continuing development of this project is in the hands of the many talented people of this area and their vision.  Historians, storytellers, artists and performers are all  part of the plan as it continues to take shape.   Like pieces of a great puzzle, it all fits together and the finished project is here to entertain and educate both residents and visitors to the region now and in years to come.
